New in Scandit Express 3.0: Additional advanced features
As well as scanning single and multiple barcodes, Scandit Express now includes additional time-saving features to count inventory and find items efficiently.
With the Inventory Count feature, you can press a single button to scan and count multiple barcodes simultaneously, and automatically check them against a list. Real-time feedback on which codes have been scanned is provided using intuitive augmented reality (AR) overlays. Inventory Count is built using Scandit’s MatrixScan Count component.
The Find Items feature allows you to scan multiple items and instantly highlight the right one using AR. It’s built using Scandit’s award-winning MatrixScan Find component — winner of an IF Design Award 2024.
New in Scandit Express 3.0: More keyboard customization options
A key feature of Scandit Express is a keyboard with a scan button (also known as a keyboard wedge). This allows users to inject data into any app with a text field. For example, a user who wanted to add barcode data into a spreadsheet could scan from the Scandit Express keyboard directly into the cells of that spreadsheet.
This keyboard is now available in over 80 different languages, including German, French, Arabic, Dutch, and Japanese. This means that many more users can continue using the Scandit Express keyboard even when they’re not scanning, instead of having to switch back to their normal keyboard.
The keyboard can also now be resized to suit personal preference and improve usability.
New in Scandit Express 3.0: Compatible with even more apps
We’ve also expanded compatibility so that Scandit Express can now be used even with apps that don’t include a text field. For example, apps running on handheld computers, where scan data is typically entered directly into the app following a pre-specified logic.
Users can access the scanning user interface (UI) with one tap, using an unobtrusive quick access button or their hardware button. Once scanning is complete, Scandit Express sends the data directly to their specified app.
Scandit Express allows users to not only scan single barcodes, but batch scan multiple barcodes simultaneously, speeding up the scanning process and improving user experience.
New in Scandit Express 3.0: Automatically parse barcode data
Many barcodes contain rich data that is more than a simple string of numbers. Scandit Express can now be configured to automatically parse that data (i.e., separate different values) and use it to populate a CSV file.
For example, one of our healthcare customers uses Scandit Express 3.0 to scan GS1 Data Matrix codes and generate CSV files where batch number, expiry date, and lot number are all in separate columns.
This feature is available for all HIBC, GS1, Swiss QR, VIN, and IATA BCBP barcodes.
