Use your camera app or a QR-code reader to scan the project code on the screen. This will  install and activate Scandit Express. After installation, follow the instructions to set up the keyboard permissions to enable scanning from any application.

Yes, you can use different keyboard languages and sizes so that users can keep using it as their personal keyboard. To do that, the desired keyboard size can be set through Scandit Express UI but the languages need to be set up in the configuration.

For all platforms, there are two options on how Scandit Express can be rolled out:

• Without Scandit cloud configuration (offline/on-premise): You download the license and configuration from the Scandit dashboard and distribute them through your MDM system (iOS & Android) or deployment script. Scandit Express will work independently of the Scandit Cloud, but any changes to the configuration or license will have to be distributed manually through your MDM system or with a deployment script.
• With Scandit cloud configuration: You specify the deployment code of your Scandit Express project in the MDM system (iOS & Android) or deployment script. Scandit Express will automatically download the license and configuration from our servers on the first start. Should you change your configuration or extend your license, your devices will automatically update. 

A keyboard wedge scanner, such as Scandit Express, is an application that adds a custom keyboard to your smartphone, tablet, or other smart device. It allows you to scan barcodes directly from your keyboard into any text field of any application, instead of having to input them manually.

Because keyboard wedge applications add a custom keyboard with a scanner button, they require no integration. 

They make scanning a barcode into an application (for example, a spreadsheet) simple, because it works in exactly the same way as typing in text. Any input field you can type into, you can also scan into. 

The Scandit Express keyboard wedge scanner can be downloaded and installed in minutes, requires no coding, and can be easily distributed via MDM or EMM systems. 

Keyboard wedge scanners are ideal if applications cannot be modified, if time to deployment is critical, or if resources are limited.

Your choice of keyboard wedge scanner will depend on the functionality available. Most keyboard wedge scanners (such as Scandit Express) offer free trials for you to test out functionality in your own environment. 

Some areas to consider are:

• What barcodes is it able to scan?
• How does it perform in real-world conditions? For example, can it scan in low light or if barcodes are wrapped in plastic? 
• Does it offer advanced features (such as batch scanning)? 
• How easy is the user interface to navigate and use? Will it hold up if you’re using it to scan hundreds of barcodes a day?

All keyboard wedge scanners are different. What barcodes they can scan depends on the decoding algorithms they run on.

The Scandit Express keyboard wedge scanner can scan all major barcode types, including UPC, EAN, Code 39, Code 128, ITF, Code 93, Codabar, Databar, MS1 Plessey, QR codes, DataMatrix, PDF417 and Aztec codes. It can also scan text and 2,500+ IDs.

Yes, Scandit Express can scan machine readable zones (MRZ)and visual inspection zones (VIZ) on identity documents using text recognition. It can also scan PDF417 barcodes, for example on the back of driver's licenses.

Scandit Express uses ID Validate technology to analyze hundreds of characteristics on the front and back of an ID, to authenticate IDs with 99.9% accuracy. Many are invisible to the naked eye. Currently validates US driver's licenses and ID cards across all 50 states. EU documents coming soon.

Very easily! A keyboard wedge scanner works in exactly the same way as a keyboard. Any input field in an application that you can type into, you can also scan into using a keyboard wedge scanner such as Scandit Express.

You don’t integrate a keyboard wedge scanner in the way that you would integrate a barcode scanning SDK. The Scandit Express keyboard wedge scanner is a downloadable app that adds a custom keyboard with a scan button to your device. 

Using this scan button, you can scan into any input field in any application or workflow that you would usually type into. Users can also output data captured with Scandit Express into a web or native application on a separate device, using a web-based connection or Bluetooth.
